2015 Dundee Dog Auction
The 2015 Dundee Dog Auction had two top dogs offered by Sam and Rick Gates. With a strong line up of 21 dogs with 20 sold with plenty of strong interest as the realisation that dogs can provide a very efficient labour source to a farm livestock business. Thursday morning marked the vendor trial in which dogs to be sold could enter.
Lot 4 Kanika Roy came out on top with a score of 94 and later went on to be sold to Steve Pederick of P F Pastoral, Bendemeer for $8500. Roy was a great all-round sheep dog with plenty of cast and feel for his stock in the paddock but with the ability to lift many gears if required in the yards.
Lot 9 Kanika Croc was put up and continued strong bidding saw him reach a record price for Dundee of $9000. Croc was purchased by Ross Turnbull on a/c of Ricky Henry of Casterton, Victoria. Ricky was in need of an all-round dog to muster cattle from heavily timbered forest country right through to running his crutching machine and trucking business. Croc was a top all round dog and at only 2yrs old could do any job and was a pleasure to cart around. With many years of working life ahead of him, he should prove to be a great investment.
Many thanks to the organisers, vendors, purchasers, Dundee committee, RMA Network for their support and Colin Say & Co for their hard work.
